First Meeting of the Council of Europe certified Cultural Routes

 

On 28 March 2013 TRANSROMANICA participated in the first meeting of the Cultural Routes Managers at the Council of Europe's offices in Brussels. Aim of the meeting was to discuss future activities of the network and possible cooperations between the routes.

 

Antonio Barone - Director of the Phoenicians' Route and elected representative of the Council of Europe Cultural Routes - organized this meeting in collaboration with the European Institute of Cultural Routes.

 

 

The director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes firstly presented current and future activities:

  • The second summer school for cultural routes reprentatives will take place from 24 - 28 June 2013 in Castelveltrano in Italy. Whereas the first two days are reserved for new projects, the last two days will contain itensified lessons for certified routes - the third day is reserved for exchange between new and experienced routes.
  • The Jewish Heritage Route has co-operated with google for a better presentation of the Spanish heritage on the web. In the future, google plans to further develop web-tools for selected cultural routes and will integrate European route themes in its "Google Cultural Institute"-website.
  • Further co-operations are planned with the UN World Tourism Organisation and NECSTouR on topics of sustainable development.

 

Regarding the routes' meeting, the topics focussed on the future structure of the collaboration and on wishes of the routes regarding the meeting of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on 12 April 2013 in Strasbourg.

 

The next opportunity to experience the European Cultural Routes' richness will be the "Intercultural Aperitif" in Luxemburg on 18 April 2013. All routes will be presented through typical food - it's an invitation to discover new flavors!
