Great history, quiet churches – „Romanesque Route of Saxony-Anhalt“ by bike

Rural churches, monasteries, cathedrales, castles and city layouts – Saxony-Anhalt is abundant with historical monuments from medieval times. The “Straße der Romanik” allows us to gain insight into this époque. Witness a journey in time through the years between 950 and 1250. First, follow the river Elbe northward and cycle through the forests and fields of the Altmark. In Jerichow you will find the Premonstratensian chapter which is a principal work of Romanesque architecture. Along the route you will see Hanseatic cities as well as numerous churches and monasteries from medieval times. In Gardelegen your journey into the past finishes with a “Gartentraum” (garden dream).
