Benedictine Church St. Georg and Pankratius – Hecklingen

The monastery church of St George and St Pancratius is one of the best-preserved Romanesque basilica churches in the foothills of the Harz mountains. Construction possibly dates back to between 1150 and 1176. The basilica, which, as is typical of the Saxon style, was designed from a square ground plan, is a cruciform building with two towers on both sides of the nave.
