The Romanesque Ways in the South of Burgundy

Thursday, May 4th 2017, the french members of TRANSROMANICA e.V. from Paray-le-Monial visited the European Romanesque Center in Merseburg.

After visiting the Cathedral of Merseburg, Yvonne Bosché and Pierre Durix, head of the International Research Center of Cultural Heritage of Charolais-Brionnais, gave a lecture about the Center and their work on-site in Burgundy. Besides initiating the Program of the „Romanesque Road” itself, they are organising Projects with students of different Universities from all over the world to measure and document the romanesque buildings of the region. The interested audience was fascinated, as became obvious in the q&a-session afterwards, by the realisation of these projects with such limited funds.

The meeting with the European Romanesque Center and its director Prof. Dr. Schenkluhn was fruitful in exchanging valuable experiences for both sides.
