Dr. Holger Grönwald studied pre- and early history as well as classical archaeology at the Humboldt University in Berlin. In 2014 he earned his PhD at Freiburg University with the thesis „Achäologie und Geschichte des hoch- und spätmittelalterlichen Landesausbau im Friaul – Rolle und Entwicklung der Burg Cucagna und ihrer Ausstattung im Nordosten Italiens“ (Archaeology and History of the High and Late Medieval Land Development in Friuli – Role and Development of Cucagna Castle and its Décor in Northeast Italy). In his lecture he is going to present current excavation results from Wachtenburg Castle and introduce outstanding single finds.
