On 22 April 2021, the MOMAr project partners and stakeholders met online for the initial meeting of the so-called “Undermanagement Cases Study” which takes into consideration that territories that are characterized by a rich and outstanding heritage can also be facing problems such as depopulation, ageing or un-used resources.
A round of presentations of possible cases of undermanagement defined in all the project partner regions was followed by a round table discussion with partners, stakeholders and experts. The elaboration of the cases showed that certain challenges such as ownership issues, shortage of financial resources and funds or the insufficient adaption of models to the specific needs of a place or region are transversal. The participants also identified some strong drivers for the recovery of these undermanaged territories which can be categorized as education, culture, art and sustainability.
The event was a kick-off meeting for a “Case Study Laboratory” that will be organized by the Ministry of Regional Development and Transport of Saxony-Anhalt. This laboratory will serve as a platform to check the applicability of successful management models identified throughout the project to those examples of unexploited cultural heritage.
